2D Game Making I
Course Description
With the rise of phones, tablets, and PC gaming in the past decade, two-dimensional games are all the rage right now! So many classic and popular 2D games are created, such as SuperMario, Undertale and Spelunky. Making 2D games is a comprehensive and challenging project. Game creators need conceive game ideas, design game UIs, rules and logics, decompose game tasks, and use programming language to implement each game modules. This course teach students the basics of 2D game design and coding, like using 2d sprites, make animation, actions and keycontrols, audio engineering, and script coding in a challenging and fun way! This course fires the children enthusiasm for coding and let them devote themselves to a real project they loved. Our target is to let kids thinking and developing their own dream games instead of playing games.

Grade: G5 - G8
Typing Speed: 25 wpm
Hardware: 64bit 2-cores CPU, 4G memory, DirectX 11 GPU, a physical mouse(not just the trackpad on a laptop).
Software: Win / Mac(the latest Mac os X and the latest Xcode)
Coding Experience: zero
Course Objectives
Learn basic workflow of making 2D games.
Learn some important 2D game making tools.
Learn basic game design modules and skills: movement, animation, sound processing, event process, control, etc.
Learn important concepts: sprites, conflict detection, game logic design, etc.
Learn how to use programming language to implement the funtions.
Be able to create a small 2D game project by his/herself.
